Best Buy mislead customers |

| Best Buy stores were advertising the two Xbox 360 packages - Premium and Core - before the launch of the console, with price tags of $399 and $299 respectively. These prices represent the SRP set by Microsoft. However, when gamers had queued up for hours in the cold to purchase one of these consoles, it emerged that Best Buy were only selling enhanced bundles with extra gear, for extra money. Those who had scrambled money together dollar by dollar were left unable to afford the hiked-up price of Best Buy's manditory bundles. “I felt that they [Best Buy] were cheating the customers. I have an 11-, 12-year-old child come up to me and say, ‘I saved $400—that’s all the money I have,” says an undefined Best Buy employee. “What was your response to the 11-year-old kid?” the Channel 6 reporter asked. “Pretty much, sorry, there’s nothing I can do. I’m not a manager,” the sympathetic employee said. Local management denied the Channel 6’s request for an interview. Corporate Best Buy released a statement, saying the company takes these allegations very seriously and is investigating. The store said that anyone who felt they were forced into buying extras could return them. The unidentified employee says that this is not the case, however. It appears that Best Buy enjoys lying to customers. Firstly they tell the world that Xbox360 burns CDs and DVDs, and now this. Get your act together, guys. |
