| Midway has just released the first concrete details on their action title Stranglehold, set for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. A third person setup offering acrobatic gunning, movie-style camera angles and Massive Destructibility (Massive D as Trademarked by Midway), Stranglehold looks promising. IGN: In development by Midway Studios Chicago, Stranglehold enables gamers to play from a third-person perspective, dual-wielding pistols while totally destroying the "Massive D" backgrounds. If you've seen just one John Woo action flick, it's all pretty much there in front of you. Tequila sees the bad guys. They see him. He smothly retrieves his hand-cannons and slides down the rail of a staircase, mowing down enemies left and right, tumbling at the bottom of the stairs, throwing his guns away, pulling out two fresh pistols from inside his coat pockets, and then letting the a ballet of bullets fly inside the restaurant, which is, of course, replete with millions of glasses, glass cabinets, glass windows, and maybe even some glass-stained windows or sunroof domes just for good measure. And everything is destructible. If you thought Massive D was a ridiculous trademarked phrase, then Midway's version of bullet time, ie. The Matrix, is "Tequila Time Slow-Motion System". IGN: Gamers will find the action incredibly smooth flowing, according to Midway. As Inspector Tequila, they can run up railings, swing on chandeliers, and leap onto a number of moving objects, all while shooting an endless stream of bullets. The gameplay shots portray Tequila as jumping in nearly every direction, backward, forward, left and right, as he shoots enemies in mid-air. Midway Chicago Studios is working with the Unreal 3.0 engine and using the latest Havok physics technology, which translates into great looking graphics and a physics engine that gives every object an interactive life of its own.
