| Next gen consoles suck | |||

 I am unimpressed!All the games are short, shallow and shiny, which means they are shit. First let me say I could care less about high definition graphics when the over educated unimaginative games developers cant even get simple gameplay mechanics and animations right. So they can stick that fancy unreal tournament engine thingy right up their arses along with all those wonderful shades of grey. Oh my god I remember getting my PS2 and actually being impressed not just with the shiny new water effects and the visual details but with the sophistication of the games, they were actually a step forward. When you think about it the next gen consoles havent showed us anything that the xbox and PS2 didn't in terms of shiny graphics and whats worse is instead of the games being more sophisticated in terms of gameplay or content they seem to be inferior and way shorter. Where is the innovation that the last consoles brought ? we have yet to see anything new and we are still waiting for the heavy hitters to step up and really wow us. I mean you name a game and I will tear it to shreds regardless of it being super pretty. Nothing is up to standard so Im just left with the hope that the new gta and mgs will show the rest of the clowns how its down. There is more to a game than just pixels dudes, I mean dont you think before anything else gameplay and content should come first ? I mean whats with the obsession over story and graphics ? first off I have only ever played like three games with great stories out of hundreds. Games arent movies or Shakespeare and game developers dont tend to be great story tellers, generally the story should be a short excuse for whatever theme the game follows, zombies for example, this is why they are running around or stumbling around yada yada yada blah blah blah shoot them in the head! simple! now get to playing and having fun. Nowadays though every game has a shit story that thinks its really good and the only exceptions to this iron clad rule are the soul reaver and legacy of kain franchise (Im counting them as one game) god of war 1&2 and the chronicles of riddick escape from butcher bay, now those games have great dialogue, atmosphere and story that are in my opinion a cut above the rest of the crap. As for the graphics who cares ? the wow factor wares off in five minutes and we are left with a short crap game that makes us yawn. So ultimately its all about gameplay and content people, but thats the hard part Im guessing seeing as its the thing most games are lacking. When I think of the amount of time and money spent on development of these so called next gen games I find it shocking that they are of such low quality, its like hey rush past everything, even the sitting down and thinking it over part and focus all their attention on looks, when they dont even have any style or taste, its just embarrassing!
